The course trains and certifies individuals in the YMCA Aquatic Safety Assistant program. This course presents the knowledge and skills needed to both help and prevent and recognize aquatic risks, and to assist a lifeguard in the emergency response to an accident or injury. This training does not provide participants with lifeguard training and there must be a certified lifeguard on duty when teaching a class or leading a program activity. If you are interesting in becoming a lifeguard, this course is for you!
